Supporting and strengthening communities

Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of what we do. We want to ensure people from diverse communities can thrive and connect with the world. Through our policy initiatives and programs, in partnership and engagements with various organizations, including the government, NGOs, CSOs, universities, and others, we want to be the medium to provide space, skills, and tools to support people from diverse communities when navigating online and in the real world.

Organizing ‘Woman Leading our Connected World’ (WOW)

We partnered with Chiang Mai University’s School of Public Policy and TEDxChiangMai to design and co-organize an unconference-style event “Women Leading Our Connected World” (WOW). The event was aimed at strengthening women’s leadership in Thailand’s digital transformation under TEDxChiangMai’s theme of “Shake and Shift – Through the Eyes of Women". It brought together 100 businesses, youth, and tech leaders, to learn and share experiences with the newly elected female Members of Parliament from across the political spectrum

In WOW season 2, we raised awareness about the impact of COVID-19 on the lives of women from all walks of life and showcased the value of women in Thai society as architects of the future. The event achieved a reach of 16,000+.

In 2022, WOW season 3 focuses on "Women & Mental Well-Being". The main objective is to raise public awareness about women and mental health, and to provide sound public policy recommendations that incorporate the knowledge on mental well-being in all other aspects of public policy. These policy recommendations are essential to enlighten the public and for various government agencies to consider developing public policies based on a solid understanding of mental health and its implications on many social issues.

Partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to Upskill Vulnerable Communities

Meta launched a partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) to support and upskill vulnerable communities in digital citizenship and digital marketing skills.

We are working together with the Ministry in their mission to build human security for vulnerable households including single parents, the youth, disabled, and the elderly amongst others. We kick-started the partnership with a training session attended by 200+ staff members where they learned how to use Facebook tools to effectively connect and engage with communities and their beneficiaries. This was followed by a session on how to navigate the online space safely, be responsible digital citizens, and how to use digital marketing tools. This training benefit 500+ people from vulnerable communities under MSDHS’s care.

Launching the Community Accelerator program

First launched in 2020, the Community Accelerator program is designed to equip impactful communities with the training, mentorship, and funds to grow. In 2021, the program focussed on helping leaders harness the power of their community to turn ideas into action. During the 8-month program, participants will receive training, early access to new products, and funding, to invest in an initiative that extends their community’s positive impact.

In 2020, we had a diverse group of participants from sectors like economic empowerment, diversity and inclusion, gender equality, and mental health.

Local Alike - Local Alike was established in 2011 to develop, empower and connect Thai tourism communities to the world. Through the Accelerator program, the team was able to pivot their offerings to launch the LocalAroi program to bring local dishes to communities across the country during the pandemic.

LearnNaiDee - Lack of education is one of the leading causes of unemployment for people with disabilities in Thailand. To help solve the problem, Chatchai started LearnNaiDee, a program to improve education for people with disabilities to unleash their full potential in life. Through the Accelerator program, the team was able to create a program to improve the education of differently-abled people to help them unleash their full potential in life.

Young Pride Club - provides on-the-ground and online activism activities to help the youth develop leadership, participation, and cooperation skills as they advocate for gender equality and diversity.

YoungHappy - helps seniors maintain an active lifestyle that promotes their self-esteem, keeps them engaged with their peers, and supports their well-being.

Ooca – helps people overcome the stigma of having mental health issues and the inaccessibility of support by connecting them with mental health professionals.

Our “Inspiring Thailand” series began in 2021, under the theme “Recovery and Resilience.” Our guests in this discussion series draw inspiring people including policymakers, and public personalities who are influencers in their own right and ordinary inspiring people. These individuals will share stories and insights on different aspects of recovery, resilience, and innovation in the context of coming out of the COVID19 pandemic. This will showcase their individual creative initiatives to drive the future of Thailand. Through the Inspiring Thailand Series, we will fuse the leadership, creativity, and innovative thinking of our guests to create a community of stakeholders who embody our mission of giving people the power to create community and bring the world closer together.

Watch our Inspiring Thailand Series

We bring together key experts from academia, civil society, respected members, and government agencies to exchange insights and recommendations through digital dialogue roundtables for the practical provisions of Thailand’s regulatory landscape. This includes our series of roundtables with privacy, misinformation, and safety experts. We also continue to build a community for experts to share their insights and leverage the knowledge to create a greater impact for Thailand.

Supporting communities to respond and recover

In unfortunate times of natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic, people use digital platforms to keep friends and family informed, raise awareness, and help their communities stay safe and recover. We used feedback from the community to develop Crisis Mapping tools and Data for Goods tools to help first responders.
