Empowering small businesses to grow and succeed
We continue to participate in Thailand's economic recovery through programs and partnerships to support SMEs in their digital transformation journey. Staying true to Meta's philosophy of diversity and inclusion, we work with local partners from diverse communities, including those differently-abled, the LGBTQI community, people living with HIV, women, and people in remote areas to ensure they have access to training and resources and can participate in the new digital economy.
Partnering with government organizations and community partners to support small businesses
We partner with government organizations, civil society, and community partners to help small businesses go online. Through Meta products and services including Facebook, Messenger and Instagram, businesses can function remotely and execute new ideas. We also help businesses from diverse communities, including those differently-abled, the LGBTQI, women, senior citizens, and other historically marginalized communities, make the most of their potential through the Meta Boost program.
We conducted Meta’s first-ever Boost training for the deaf community in 2019. One of our Meta Boost training programs was also delivered in collaboration with the LGBTQI community. We expanded and pivoted the training to help businesses accustom to the changing environment caused by the pandemic in 2020. We reached thousands of SMEs from our community and government partners network through partnership with Kenan Foundation Asia, where 38% of these participants came from historically marginalized groups and diverse communities. 60% were female. We also reached 2.6+ million Thai people through free online training courses.

Inspiring Thailand Series on Being Safe Online | Know the Scammers
“Taking part in Meta Boost’s training program gave [differently abled community members] the opportunity to learn digital marketing skills and we are now seeing tangible results. There are members who have created their own careers, learning to use Meta’s tools or selling online, and it has given them a space to express or communicate – and find new opportunities – in a way that makes them feel valued.”

It provided SMBs with guidance around business resilience. It is now available in a localized Thai version, developed in partnership with Kenan Foundation Asia. It shares strategies and considerations around business recovery and resilience that will be useful and applicable to Thai SMEs.
The Small Business Resilience:
The Re-emergence Guide highlights five key pillars to business resilience:
● People - Keep your workforce supported and engaged
● Processes - Adjust to the changing demands of your business operations
● Patrons - Know your customers and engage your community
● Profits - Re-evaluate your business model and manage your finances
● Prepare - Understand your risks and build disaster resilience
This guide also shows how times of change can also be opportunities to evolve and optimize capabilities for SMEs can create more effective operating models, develop a strong culture of trust and transparency, effectively engage with customers, and prepare for the next disruption - the new normal.
Creating Economic Opportunities through Digital Tools and Resources
Supporting the tourism industry
Meta’s mission is to give people the power to build a community and bring the world closer together. Our teams in the country are continuously working to help businesses and communities connect with people that matter to them the most every day. With the global outbreak of COVID-19 and the resulting travel restrictions, we know that many small businesses, especially those in the tourism industry, have been badly impacted. As a company, we’ve listened to businesses to understand the challenges they now face and provide maximum support to meet their needs. Given the importance of the tourism industry to Thailand – both as a major contributor to the country’s economy and one of the largest sectors of employment -we join hands with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to support the tourism sector recovery as the country seeks to re-open to tourists once again. We have provided Meta Boost free digital marketing training to hundreds of SMEs from travel and tourism sectors across Thailand.
Together with TAT Academy and Kenan Foundation Asia, we have also conducted a survey to understand the impact of COVID-19 on Thai SMEs from travel and tourism sectors, and how they are adapting their businesses during these challenging times. Learn more about the survey.
